Imprint and privacy
Imprint
- Website: Turtleglint (turtleglint.com)
- Email: our contact address is being set up and will be listed here.
- Commercial register: not registered (private individual)
- Licenses and professional bodies: the site needs no prior license and is not run as a regulated profession.
- Codes of conduct: none signed.
- Editorial responsibility: Turtleglint's publisher is responsible for everything published on this site, including content made with AI tools. Our Disclosures page explains how we use AI and how we earn money.
Prices
Prices mentioned on this site are indicative retail prices in US dollars and may be out of date. They may exclude sales tax, VAT and shipping. The price at the retailer's checkout is the one that applies. We sell nothing ourselves.
Using the information on this site
- Our guides give general information about gear. For snorkeling or freediving training and safety, learn from a qualified instructor and follow each maker's instructions.
- Before you buy a housing, case or accessory, or take it into the water, confirm on the maker's own compatibility page that it fits your exact phone or camera model. We link to those pages wherever we can.
- Our articles are drafted and published by AI without per-article human review, so they can contain errors, and makers change products, specs and prices. When our Contact page lists an email address, you can report errors there; we review reports at least once a month.
- Links to other websites lead to content we do not control, and their own terms and privacy policies apply there.

The full notice follows.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Turtleglint's publisher (see the Imprint above). For any privacy question or request, email the address in the Imprint above.
This notice covers every visitor, wherever you live.
2. What we collect, why, and for how long
2.1 When you open any page
- Data: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page you came from, and your browser and device type.
- Who processes it: our hosting providers, on our behalf: Netlify for the main pages, and Agent Solo with its hosting and network providers for the blog at /blog.
- Why: to deliver pages, keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix errors.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- How long: Agent Solo states that it typically keeps logs for 12 months. Netlify keeps request logs for the main pages as described in its own privacy policy.
2.2 Visit statistics
- Data: Agent Solo states that the blogs it hosts record "privacy-light visitor events" for the site owner: the page, the referring site and a broad browser category, including whether the visit came from an AI agent. Agent Solo does not say whether these statistics use cookies or local storage; section 3 lists what our cookie scan finds.
- Why: to learn which guides readers find and use, so we can improve them. We look at totals and trends only.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- How long: Agent Solo states no retention period for these visit records. We will add the period here once Agent Solo confirms it. Totals that identify nobody may be kept longer.
2.3 Search performance data from Google
We use Google Search Console to see how our pages appear in Google Search. Google gives us totals of searches, clicks and positions by page and search term. These totals identify nobody, and Search Console sets nothing on your device through our site.
2.4 Advertising (Google AdSense)
When ads appear on this site, Google serves them through its AdSense program. Google acts as an independent controller for this processing, under its own privacy policy. Google explains how it uses information from sites like ours on its page How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- What happens with your consent: when ads run, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on those visits. Advertising cookies are also used to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure ads and to detect fraud.
- How we ask: when ads run, every visitor first sees a consent banner from a consent management tool certified by Google and built on the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework. You can accept, reject, or choose individual purposes and partners. Advertising cookies are set only after you accept.
- If you reject: no advertising cookies are set on your device.
- Who the partners are: when ads run, the banner's partner list names every advertising partner, with its purposes, how long its cookies last, and a link to its privacy policy. Google also publishes the list of ad technology partners that may serve ads through AdSense.
- Opting out of personalized ads elsewhere: you can turn off personalized ads from Google in Ads Settings, and opt out of many other companies' personalized-ad cookies at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Art. 22.2 LSSI for cookies). We are responsible for asking for your consent; Google is responsible for how it uses the data it collects.
- How long: see the cookie table in section 3.
2.5 Paid links to retailers
Any paid link ("affiliate link") on Turtleglint goes to Amazon, through the Amazon Associates program, and no other affiliate program pays us. We earn a commission if you buy after clicking one. Our Disclosures page explains this.
- What happens when you click: you go to Amazon's site. The link carries our Amazon Associates tag. Amazon records that you came from us, usually with a cookie or a code in the web address on its own site, and links any qualifying purchase to us so it can pay our commission.
- Who is responsible: Amazon, under its own privacy notice. Our site sets no cookie when it shows you a paid link.
- What we receive: reports of clicks, orders and commission amounts. These reports contain none of your contact details.
2.6 When you contact us
- Data: your name if you give it, your email address, and your message.
- Why: to answer you and to correct errors you report.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering messages and keeping our guides accurate (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- How long: up to 12 months after our last exchange, unless we need the message longer to deal with a legal claim.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. "Similar technologies" include local storage. Under Spanish law (Art. 22.2 LSSI) we need your consent for every cookie that is not strictly necessary.
Our main pages, hosted by Netlify, run no cookies or tracking scripts of our own. Agent Solo, which hosts our blog, states that the customer blogs it hosts set only the strictly necessary technologies needed to serve the site and the features the site owner configures. The table below follows that statement and our own setup, and lists what our own cookie scan finds.
| Category | Set by | Purpose | When it is used | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Agent Solo (blog host) | Serve the site | Always (no consent needed) | To be listed from our cookie scan |
| Consent choice | Our consent tool (the certified CMP in section 2.4), once ads run | Remember your banner choice so we do not ask on every visit | Only when ads run (no consent needed) | Listed here when ads start |
| Advertising | Google, for example the "IDE" and "id" cookies (13 months in the EEA, UK and Switzerland; 24 months elsewhere) and "__gads" (13 months) | Show and personalize ads, limit repeats, measure ads, detect fraud | Only when ads run, and only after you consent | As listed; other partners' durations are shown in the banner's partner list |
| Statistics | Agent Solo, if any | Visit statistics (section 2.2) | Agent Solo does not say whether its statistics use cookies; to be listed from our cookie scan | To be listed from our cookie scan |
Google lists its cookies and their durations on its cookie page.
Changing your mind: once ads run, use the "Privacy and cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page to change or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent stops new advertising cookies from that point. Your browser settings also let you delete cookies already stored.
Do Not Track: browsers send "Do Not Track" signals in different ways and there is no common standard, so our site does not respond to them. When ads run, advertising cookies are set only after you consent in the banner.
4. Who receives your data
- Netlify (Netlify, Inc., San Francisco, United States) hosts our main pages as our processor. Netlify states that its Data Processing Addendum is part of its terms; the addendum includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Agent Solo (Allan Perrottet, trading as Agent Solo, DMCC Business Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates) hosts our blog at /blog as our processor. Agent Solo uses its own sub-processors. Those relevant to visitors include Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (content delivery and media), Supabase (database), Trigger.dev (background jobs), Resend (email) and Serge (measurement of AI-agent traffic). Agent Solo's full, current list is in its Privacy Policy.
- Google receives data as an independent controller when you consent to ads (section 2.4), and provides Search Console statistics (section 2.3).
- Amazon receives data if you click a paid link to Amazon and visit its site (section 2.5).
- Authorities, if the law requires us to share data.
We do not sell, rent or trade your email address or contact details.
5. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
- Netlify is based in the United States. Its Data Processing Addendum includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Agent Solo operates from the United Arab Emirates, which has no EU adequacy decision.
- Agent Solo's providers: Agent Solo states that they are in the United States and Europe, and that its transfers to these providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and also uses Standard Contractual Clauses where needed.
You can ask us for details of these transfers.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- restrict how we use it;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including at any time to any direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what happened before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email the address in the Imprint above. We reply within one month, free of charge. We may ask for information to confirm your identity first.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Spain this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid, www.aepd.es. If you live or work in another EU country, you can also complain to the authority there.
7. Other points
- Do you have to give us data? No. You can read the whole site without signing up or telling us who you are; only the technical data in section 2.1 is needed to deliver pages. Contacting us is optional.
- Automated decisions: we make no decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. If you consent to personalized ads, Google and its partners use your browsing activity to choose ads for you.
- Children: this site is meant for adults, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
- California residents: the categories of personal data we collect, and the third parties we share them with, are listed in sections 2 and 4. Other parties, such as Google and its advertising partners, may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our site, if you consent in the banner.
8. Changes to this notice
When we change this notice, we post the new version here with a new date at the top.
