This page explains how Turtleglint uses AI and how it earns money.
How we use AI
Our rules put this notice at the top of every Turtleglint article:
Turtleglint articles are drafted and published by AI from makers' published specifications. We have not tested this gear in the water. Check fit and depth ratings on the maker's page before you buy.
- Text. Agent Solo, an AI blogging platform, drafts our articles and publishes them on its own schedule, from a brand document we wrote and makers' published specifications. Turtleglint publishes without per-article human review: no person reads an article before it goes live. How we write explains the rules the AI writes under.
- Images. Unless its caption credits a maker or says it is our own photo, treat every image in a Turtleglint article as made by AI. These images are illustrations, even when they look like photos, and none of them is a photo of a real product, a real dive or a test of the gear. Our rules ask for each AI image's alt text to start "AI illustration:", and the site shows that text as the caption under inline images.
- Mistakes. AI gets things wrong, and no person checks an article before it goes live. Once a week, an automated check reads every published article it has not checked before. It alerts the publisher to rule breaks in the article text, such as testing claims, a missing AI notice and an unlabeled header image; How we write lists what it looks for and what it cannot check yet. It cannot confirm that a fit list is right. At least once a month, the publisher corrects or removes any flagged or reported article that breaks a rule. When our Contact page lists an email address, you can report errors there.
- Who is responsible. Turtleglint's publisher set these rules and holds editorial responsibility for everything published here, including articles that go live without review. Imprint
"Tested in water"
"Tested in water" is a label for products we have taken into the water ourselves, with our own photos and notes on the page. Today, no product on Turtleglint has earned it. Until then, our articles rest on what makers publish.
How we make money
Paid links. Turtleglint carries no paid links yet. Once we join the Amazon Associates program, our only paid links will go to Amazon, and our rules then put this notice directly above the first one in every article that has one:
As an Amazon Associate, Turtleglint earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon links on this page are paid links.
Ads. If we add ads, Google AdSense will serve them. Google chooses the individual ads, and advertisers have no say in what we write.
No paid placements. No brand can pay to appear on Turtleglint or to move up a list. We have accepted no free products, loans or other payments from brands. If that ever changes, we will say so on this page and in the articles that feature that product.
